ONLY 3 HOURS OLD

In a village off the beaten path in Winneba, I come into the door marked "LYING IN WARD". There in a remote village I find a woman who has just given birth not 3 hours before. She lays on blue plastic with sheets that are soiled. The midwife at the clinic told the story of how babies have past away in the middle of the night because of no electricity. She tells me of those nights that the watchman must hold the torch (flashlight) as she delivers. She whispers to me, "She is a lucky one".

LYING IN WARD

SOLAR POWER FOR CLINIC

These are the Chief Elders in the clinic of Winneba. They are gathered around a solar panel with 12 batteries that will furnish enough electricity for the clinic. Modern miracles meet those in the past. One of the Chief's in his speech thanking the church said, "Light is Life". The watchman will now be able to go back to his nightly duties. Truly light will give life to those in Winneba.

SHE IS DRIVING

Elder Terry wanted to take this picture fearing it might be his last as I start driving. Now, he has the seat I sit in for an entirely different point of view.

PICKING THE RIGHT ONE

Elder Terry picked out this casket as being the one he would want to be buried in. Of course it would be an eagle. A saying from Ross Perot Electronic Data Systems where Elder Terry worked long ago was "EAGLES DON'T FLOCK TOGETHER, THEY GATHER ONE AT A TIME". That is Elder Terry a one of a kind.

I'M FASTER

I'm going to go on the faster side, and take the land route.  I'm hoping Elder Terry won't need to buy it any time soon!

THE WAVES ONE DAY COULD BRING A CHANGE

Some oceans are made for swimming, and others just standing at a window and wondering!

READING FOR THE FIRST TIME

The beginnings of reading on a porch with a willing student and a very dedicated teacher. Sitting next to Jenny gave me a look into a bright new future that was going to be hers. Materials are scares, and I will be involved in the Literacy effort here in Ghana. Jenny was eagerly reading in the teacher's 2 books she has brought herself, and at the end of class the books went back into the teacher's purse. Jenny must wait till next Sunday to hold another book. The church will be lifting learning for Jenny!

FIRST ACCIDENT

No Allstate just exchange numbers. Not Elder Terry's fault. He wanted to have a clean record, but within days of being here that dream was shattered.

NOT HAPPY

This is the 3rd time the ATM has eaten his card or not given him his cash. Any suggestions?

WHAT

That's right someone in Algeria managed to hack in to one of my accounts. Good thing I have Sherlock Holmes for a companion, because we fixed that light blub in the closet. Anyone else need help?

LET'S SEE HOW IT WORKS

Elder Terry and Charles checking out the servers at the MTC. For all you pointy heads, the ISP pipe is always too small.

ELDER TERRY MAKING SMILES

Believe it or not they have a wanna be Costco here. Elder Terry is trying to figure out the local currency. I'm hoping, in this transaction, that he got it right.

CONFERENCE ELDER TERRY STYLE

If you have a white sheet and Elder Terry's know how, you can view General Conference live. Yes, that's duct tape in the corners. You can do anything with duct tape. Good thing we brought a big roll!

Thanks,

AHHHHH MOMENT

The sabbath smiles say it all. They want us not to hold children here, and I tried to be obedient. I'm gonna call this a gentle press.

FACES OF THE FUTURE

These are the reasons that we come to serve...or are we the ones being served such love?

THE LIGHT OF THE GOSPEL

A woman of God that reads by the light of the church window, and carries His love everywhere she goes. Me with my iPad and her with her well worn highlighted markings in her scriptures. We bridged the gap together. They love the word of God.

COMPASSIONATE DISCIPLESHIP

It was wonderful to receive this depiction of Elder Hollands talk at conference. Are we all not beggars?

JOSEPH WILLIAM "BILLY" JOHNSON

Sister Terry had the privilege of meeting this pioneer of the Gospel of Jesus Christ back in 2002. He was a simple but powerful man of God. He said in that fateful meeting, "Our clothes should be tattered in the service of others". As I went into the Ghana MTC, his picture was upon the wall. This is the caption under his portrait....

"Gratitude and love emanated from him....he taught the Gospel for 14 years, and over 1,000 people were ready for baptism when the missionaries arrived in 1978. He is a man who consecrated his life and soul to God."
We should all be such pioneers!

BATS ARE OUT

Those dots in this picture are not dirt from my camera lens...they are bats. Looks like they celebrate Halloween here too.

His Holy House

This is our view coming and going from the Area Office where we work. It's like looking into heaven everyday.
